התזמורת הסימפונית ירושלים, בניצוחו של אנדרס מוסטונן ובשיתוף פסטיבל המוסיקה «פרספקטיבות» מירוואן (ארמניה), תעלה קונצרט מיוחד ובו מוסיקה מאת גדולי המלחינים הארמנים לצד הסימפוניה השלישית «אירואיקה» מאת בטהובן.

נושא שואת העם הארמני אינו יכול להשאיר אף אחד אדיש. מאה שנים לאחר רצח העם, ובכל אחד מבני העם הארמני קיים דחף פנימי לדבר על הארץ האבודה, התרבות, האומה המעונה והתקווה להשיג צדק היסטורי והכרה באירוע נורא זה.
רק לאחרונה דן נשיא המדינה, מר ראובן ריבלין, בנושא בנאומו באו»ם ביום השואה הבינלאומי. ריבלין שדיבר באנגלית ובעברית בפני אולם מלא בפעילים יהודיים בחר לפתוח את נאומו באזכור שואת הארמנים. ריבלין הזכיר את הפליטים הארמנים שהגיעו לירושלים בשנת 1915 — ונצפו על ידי הוריו ובני משפחתו — ואמר «איש לא התכחש לרצח שאירע». הוא ציטט דברים שכתב אבשלום פיינברג, ממנהיגי מחתרת ניל»י, ואמר שבאותם ימים נשאלו שתי שאלות: מי הבא בתור, «והאם נזיל אנחנו היהודים דמעות דם גם על שברם של אחרים?». התשובה לשאלה הראשונה היתה, כמובן — השואה של היהודים — אבל השאלה השנייה «נותרה תלויה ועומדת עד היום», דברי הנשיא ריבלין.
השנה יצוינו מאה שנים לשואת העם הארמני ובמסגרת זו ייערכו קונצרטים ברחבי העולם, הראשון שבהם יתקיים בישראל. לאחר מכן אמנים בעלי שם עולמי יעלו קונצרטים באולמות הקונצרטים החשובים ברחבי העולם. הרעיון שעומד בבסיס הוא שבאמצעות קונצרטים אלו, הנושא המאיים של רצח עם יקבל ביטוי ויחס בתקשורת העולמית. באותה העת אירועים אלו ידגישו את תרומתה של ארמניה למפת התרבות בעולם כולו.
להלן חלק מרשימת הקונצרטים שיתקיימו במהלך השנה: כנסיית סנט ג’ון בטאלין, אסטוניה עם הרכב הורטוס מוזיקוס ומקהלת הגברים הלאומית של אסטוניה; בארמון האמנויות היפות בבלגיה עם התזמורת הלאומית של בלגיה בניצוחו של ג’ורג’ פהליביאן ובהשתתפות הצ’לן מישה מייסקי, החצוצרן סרגיי נקריאקוב והכנר מקסים וונגרוב; בתאטרון מרינסקי בסנט פטרסבורג ברוסיה עם התזמורת הסימפונית של תאטרון מרינסקי ובניצוחו של ואלרי גרגייב; באולם קרנגי שבניו יורק, ארה»ב, עם רביעיית שנגחאי והמקהלה הקאמרית הובר; באולם סנטה צ’צ’יליה ברומא עם התזמורת הפילהרמונית לה סקאלה; באולם קדוגן בלונדון עם התזמורת הפילהרמונית המלכותית בניצוחו של המנצח והכנר פנחס צוקרמן; ובאולם המוזיקפריין בווינה עם תזמורת קאמרטה זלצבורג בניצוחו של ג’ון אקסלרוד ועם הסולנים מישה מייסקי, לילי מייסקי, יוליאן רחלין, ורדן ממיקוניאן וואהה רוסטומיאן. ובישראל, כאמור, הקונצרט ייערך בתיאטרון ירושלים עם התזמורת הסימפונית ירושלים בניצוחו של אנדרס מוסטונן.

The topic of the Armenian Genocide cannot leave anyone indifferent. It is a hundred years after and the inner compulsion of every Armenian person is to speak about the lost country, culture, tortured nation and the hope to achieve historical justice and recognition of this horrible event. Only recently the President of Israel, Mr. Reuven Rivlin, spoke of this issue at the UN General Assembly marking International Holocaust Remembrance Day. Rivlin mentioned the 1915 Armenian Genocide. «In 1915, when members of the Armenian nation were being massacred, here in the land of Israel no one denied the massacre that had taken place. The residents of Jerusalem, my parents and members of my family, saw the Armenian refugees arriving by the thousands — starving, piteous survivors of calamity. In Jerusalem they found shelter and their descendants continue to live there to this day. Rivlin went on to quote Avshalom Feinberg, a leading member of Nili, the Jewish underground which cooperated with the Allies during the First World War, who wrote 100 years ago that there were two questions reverberating then: whose turn is it next? And will we Jews weep tears of blood for the tragedy of others too? The first question was answered by history, some two decades later. The Jews were next… The second question still awaits an answer…»
The Centennial of the Armenian Genocide will be noted by remarkable concerts all over the world. Two dozen famous musicians will give memorial concerts in the world’s most prestigious concert halls, through a series of concerts under the title «With you Armenia» that will start in Israel with the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra conducted by Andres Mustonen. Further venues will include St. John Church in
Tallinn; Beaus Arts Palace in Brussels; Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg; Carnegie Hall in New York; Santa Cecilia Hall in Rome; Cadogan Hall in London; Musikverein
Hall in Vienna. The musicians list will include top class musicians and among them the Belgium National and La Scala Philharmonic Orchestras, Royal Philharmonic and Mariinsky Symphony Orchestras, Camerata Salzburg, conductors Valery Gergiev, Pinchas Zukerman, George Pehlivanian, John Axelrod, soloists Evgeny Kissin, Maxim Vengerov, Mischa Maisky, Julian Rachlin, Sergei Nakariakov, and others.
